East Sunbury Cricket week one

Cricket Week one

B grade- With an under maned team B grade took on Rupertswood which was a replay of the semi-final last year. Rupertswood battered first and posted a total of 159 with Jack Dillion picking up 3/14 off his 8 overs and Chris Watson taking 2/15 from his 8. Positive signs with the ball with Liam Williams and Brady Penticoss both bowling well at different stages of the game. A disappointing effort with the bat only producing 82 runs which left East well short of the total. Liam Williams scored 16 while Jacob Grant posted 15. The positive part of the game was the young cricketers at our club standing up again. Missing a few which will only strengthen this team as the season goes on.

D grade – Open there account with a win against Diggers Rest, the newly lead side with Cody McDorman as Captain battered first and posted a score of 161 with Shannon McDorman top scoring with 48, Gary Williams 27 and Jay Brockman 20. I was the Penticoss show with the ball with Nathan Penticoss taking 5/33 from his 8 overs and Patty Penticoss 3/10 from 8 overs to bowl out Diggers for 81. Great start to the season for the D grade team.

F grade- F grade travelled to Gisborne and elected to bat first setting a total of 130 with Mark Wilkins top scoring with 58 and young Liam Watson makes 28. Gisborne chased down the total but was an all-round bowling performance and the positive is there was plenty of youth in this team and they will only improve from this.

H grade – H grade got the points with Bacchus Marsh forfeiting.

A lot of positives coming out of the week end with a lot of our young talent preforming and knowing we have quality players to start folding back into the ranks, it should still be a competitive season for Est Sunbury.
