Round 4 Match Summaries

ROUND 4 SUMMARY: SENIORS: Another mixed bag in Round 4 for the East boys, with 2/4 sides winning their games. The First XI were hosting a firing Diggers Rest C.C at home in round 4, again falling short against one of the benchmark sides in the B grade competition. Last years B Grade Grandfinalists were too good for fill in Captain Jessy Carroll and the boys, defeating us by 5 wickets. Junior star Brandon Nicholls top scoring with 27 runs for the losing side. A different tune however for the Second XI, comfortably overcoming Diggers Rests D grade side, returning home with a 98 run victory. Junior stars shining yet again, with U16’s players Dylan Featon (66 not out) and Jacob Grant (33) doing the damage with bat in hand. Jacob also doing the damage with the ball, taking a season best 4 for 7 from 6 overs. F Grade (3rd XI) continued their climb up the ladder by dismantling Wallan on their home turf, walking away 98 run victors – making it two successive big wins. Sent back a grade to find form with the bat, Tim Jenkins did exactly that scoring a solid 56, backing up his 41 from the week before. Mark Wilkins returned to form, scoring 47 before a lazy shot drew him agonisingly short of his first half century for the season. Nathan Penticoss returned to form at Greenhills, collecting a stump-shattering 3/7 from his 7 overs. Our Forth XI slumped to their third consecutive loss, going down to Rupertswood C.C by 5 wickets. A broken thumb gave club President Keith Osborne a rare opportunity with the ball, taking 2/7 in his second game for the season. B GRADE: East Sunbury C.C – 10/126 def by.
