With the finals on the line and East looking to sure up a home final this game could not have been more important. After bowling first and keeping Bacchus Marsh to a total of 247 with Jessy Carroll taking 3 wickets and Jaxon Mobilio, Chris Watson and Mark Bitmead all taking two wickets each. It was a positive result with the bat after chasing down the total only five down, with Jessy Carroll 52, Shannon McDorman 48 and Brandon Nicholls 50*. A great win and sure makes next week’s game against Diggers Rest very interesting.
The top of the ladder East Sunbury took on bottom of the ladder Hesket and were just looking for a solid hit out leading into finals. After losing the toss and sent out to field Tim Wollington answered best with five wickets. After bowling Hesket out for 91 East went to work on taking down the total. Keith Osborne 47 and Brady Penticoss 40* amount the top scorers with East’s finishing 6/229 at tea. A good hit out and looking forward to next week.
East Sunbury looking to sure up a finals spot took on Rupertswood and after losing the toss had to bowl first. After a long day in the field Rupo finished with a score of 188. Wickets were shared around but Dino Ivancic took 2 wickets. East chased down the runs easily with Mark Wilkins making 106 to take the game away from Rupo. A great effort and F grade moving forward and locking themselves into the finals.
East took on St Anthony’s and after bowling first they were set a large total of 344. With Mitch Williams and Andy McLellan taking 2 wickets each. It was a great effort by the East boys to get out there and bat for some time but finished short with 100 on the board. It was good to see juniors getting time in the middle and this will only improve our club going forward.
